Domain Names
1. What is a domain name?
A domain name is simply an internet address i.e. microsoft.com as no two domain names can be the same once your chosen domain name has been registered and registration is maintained it can not be used by any other person or organisation.
2. What are the benefits of domain name registration?
A domain name allows you to have your own personalised email and web site address which will never change even if you change your broadband provider. A domain name also portrays a more professional online image and is a simple and easy way for other people or potential customers to remember your email address or website.
3. How long is the domain name registration process?
Your domain name registration request is processed as soon as it is received. Generally it only takes minutes for gTLD's (.com .net etc..) and Nominet (.uk domain names) to confirm an application.
4. Who owns the domain name?
You retain sole rights to the domain name for as long as you are registered. Domain names are registered in the name you give on our order form, we do not register domain names in our name.
5. What can I do with a domain name?
A domain name allows you to personalise your web and email address to one that won't change even if you change your ISP, saves having to notify everyone of a new email address every time you change your internet provider.
Having your own domain name is an easy, affordable way for other people or potential customers to remember your email address or website and gives you an instant professional online image.
With a domain name you can respond to emails automatically when your away from home or office and the sender receives an immediate response of your choosing.
If you use your domain name with our web hosting service you can also create your own website, use advanced email and email protection, graphical statistics, MySQL databases, PHP scripting and more. Please click on web hosting if you require more information.

However, the registry responsible for these domain names impose a one year domain name renewal fee when transferring. Your current expiry date will not change, the domain name is simply extended by a year i.e expiry date 10 Oct 2013 becomes 10 Oct 2014. The domain name renewal fee is the same as our current registration price. However, if you purchase any of our web hosting packages upon successful transfer to us we will cover the registry renewal fee and add one year to the expiry of your domain name free.
8. What if my domain name is unavailable?
If your domain name is unavailable you could try a different domain name extension .com instead of .co.uk. Alternatively, you could try a different variation on the same theme. When registering a domain name the information entered as the 'Registrant details' will be visible on a full 'whois' search, this is irrespective of whichever registrar you use to register a domain name, unless you are within the EU then some of the information is redacted from public view. If you wish for all your details not to be shown then Domain ID Protection is available with most domain names extensions. Email forwarding enables you to have a more memorable and personalised email address i.e: mike946273@yourisp.com becomes mike@yourdomain.com.
